jetNEXUS ISO Software Load Balancer - FAQ

Do I need to know how to use Linux?

No – Installation is completely automated and all post install configuration is performed via the web interface.

What server hardware will it run on?
It will run on most server hardware that meets the minimum stated requirements (see below).
This includes, but is not limited to:
• Dell 2950, 1950, 2500, 2400
• HP/Compaq DL360, DL380

What specification of server hardware does jetNEXUS ALB-X need?
A minimum of a high-end Pentium 4 with 512MB of RAM, an 80GB hard disk and 2 Intel or Broadcom Gigabit capable NICs.

What IP address will it come up on?

On first boot it will try and find a DHCP server for an IP address. If it does not find one, then its default IP will be 192.168.100.100.

How can I initially access the new server hardware?
You can use jetNEXUS Discovery (a Windows application), the web GUI (http:// IP:27374/), secure shell (ssh over Ethernet), or a serial cable.

Can I get root access to the device?
This is not provided by default but can be supplied at the discretion of the jetNEXUS support team

Hardware Requirements

CPU and Memory
A high-end Pentium 4 with 512MB of RAM. More memory would be required where caching is being employed. How much will of course depend on how much data you are planning for the ALB-X to cache. Note: performance is significantly improved by running multi core CPU’s.

Network Requirements
Two NICs (Network Interface Cards). jetNEXUS ISO build officially supports only Intel and Broadcom on the basis of their suitability for - and performance with network intensive processes on server hardware.
